Since 1993 I have had the great pleasure and privilege of serving families of newborns in the greater Triangle area, as a breastfeeding peer counselor, and as a postpartum doula. In 2000 I realized a dream when I qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and have been in private practice ever since. I am very touched and moved by the families I work with and I love being able to contribute to their success at achieving their breastfeeding goals.
Chatham Lactation Services covers the western Triangle area of central North Carolina including Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Pittsboro, Hillsborough, Durham, Apex, Cary, and Chatham & northern Lee Counties.
I was born and raised in the UK, went to school in New Delhi, India, where during the summer vacation I volunteered at Mother Teresa’s orphanage, where I bathed, held and played with the babies there. I have also lived in Hawaii and London, and a number of other locations in the mainland United States. These experiences have provided me with a sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to find common ground concerning the care of newborns and infants.
“I give my highest recommendation for Susan O'Hara-Brill. She is smart, compassionate, caring, insightful, energetic, willing, and fun to be around."
